35 Week Pregnancy Update

I’m 35 weeks and time is flying!

Personal
The challenge has been to relax and slow down! This mama is trying to get everything together for baby, from doing baby’s laundry to putting together furniture and organizing. However my body is telling me it’s time to sloooow dooown and unwind a bit, and most importantly, do some mental preparation. It’s getting a bit more difficult to bend down and do some things without crunching my belly. I’ve done all I can so far to prepare and now it’s time to just soak up these last weeks and let my body rest and relax. However, it’s not easy to stop when you’re an on the go person, and asking for help more often is also challenging. However, I try to think of what’s best for me and baby, so I’ve been working on accepting this period of ‘non-doing’ and just embrace this change. Luckily, there are always people to help you bring your cart out at the store and luckily my husband is very helpful and understanding.

32 Week Pregnancy Update

This mama has hit 32 weeks and the clock is ticking!

Personal
This past week there have been no dramatic changes. Ant’s mom came for a visit for the holiday weekend and we went and bought some more clothes for baby girl. I hear you can’t have too many onesies! We really enjoyed checking out the Boulder Farmer’s Market and getting some herbs for our kitchen window as well as some mouthwatering produce. I’ll definitely be coming back for more, I think baby girl and I loved the cucumbers and tomatoes way too much.

Books I Chose To Read To Prepare For My Natural Childbirth

When making a decision for the kind of birth we wanted to have, my husband and I did a lot of research to make sure we made the best decision for us and our child. We both agreed that a natural birth at home was the best option for our family.

Since the moment I knew I wanted to conceive, I wanted to prepare myself physically, mentally, and spiritually for the kind of birth I wanted and knew I could have. I started reading up information and books before I got pregnant and continued all throughout my pregnancy. Reading stories of other women birthing gave me strength, confidence, and insight into the incredible reality of home birth. Since then I have worked to face any fears I had around my birth, to inform myself of the process, and to visualize to bring to life the birth that I would like myself, my husband, and my baby to experience. I knew there would be a lot of wonderful books on the market and I wanted to get my hands on all of them, however once I found out I was pregnant I had to make a list and prioritize what I really wanted to have read by the time I birth and what can wait until after.

8 Things I Couldn’t Live Without Throughout My Pregnancy – So Far

The 8th month of pregnancy is almost here and this mama has had a pretty great ride thus far!

I’ve had no morning sickness, no cravings, no mood swings (my husband can attest) and overall I’ve felt pretty great! Don’t get me wrong, pregnancy can be taxing and difficult on the body at times but Ant and I both wanted this so much that I’ve really appreciated every moment of this baby. There have definitely been times when I have wished I could take the belly off for just a bit, but when I feel that way I just take a deep breath and remind myself to be thankful for the wonderful gift blooming inside of me and remind myself that any discomfort is temporary! And with that said, here is my list of things that have helped me get through the tough moments:

How Coconut Oil Will Change Your Life

This week I just have to tell you coconut oil, not only because of how varied its uses are but also because my hubby has asked me to make this post so that he can share it with others in his joint admiration of this miracle oil!

Tackling the Flu and Acute Bronchitis, Naturally!

This past week I got very stressed, stepped outside into the cold, and BAM! Even with my awesome immune system (I never got sick!) I got hit pretty hard. Congestion, sneezing, fever, hot and cold feeling, body aches, the whole thing. I decided to use this as an opportunity to let my immune system make itself stronger and ride it out without medication. I’m not going to lie, I felt like crap. The only thing I took was an ibuprofen for my head and the body aches. Also, I did a few things to help it go away quickly:
