Recipes Of The Week #5

Hello all!

Haven’t done this segment in a bit because when you have a new baby, you cook what you have as fast as possible. There’s no time for recipes! But now that Livy is turning 3 months this week, things are a little less hectic and we have time to cook again, thanks to my husband, who does most of it.

3 Ways Whiten Teeth

3 Ways To Whiten Your Teeth Naturally

White teeth never go out of style!

However it is a misconception that the shade of one’s teeth is always directly related to one’s level of oral hygiene.

I’ve personally never had super pearly whites even though I’ve oil pulled, used essential oils, ate healthy foods, and used other methods of keeping my mouth and gums healthy. I know plenty of people who live very healthy and active lifestyles and whose teeth are slightly yellow. The food we eat can sometimes stain our teeth over time and with the function that our mouth serves, it’s not realistic to get blindingly white teeth without some kind of interference. Naturally speaking our teeth are not meant to be extremely white. In fact, the mouth is the dirtiest place on the body! However I cannot negate that there is something aesthetically pleasing about seeing your teeth sparkle, and it makes your mouth feel fresh and clean.

14 Must Haves For A Natural Birth

I’ve known I wanted a natural birth since before I was pregnant. Reading up on all the information and seeing what birth could be like for me was really exciting and empowering, especially since I have never liked the hospital environment. Over the years my husband and I have educated ourselves on all there is to know and we really found ourselves in strong agreement about natural birth and home birth and we knew that this is how we would want to bring a child into the world.

Couple’s Therapy As Maintenance, Not Just Repair

We aren’t all born with the skills to handle situations in the most profound way. I know for sure I wasn’t. This lack of skills, as I’ve learned, can hold us back, like the moth that keeps at it with the light bulb. Unless we find and test new ways to deal with things, like the moth we can also get stuck in unproductive habits and behaviors that get us nowhere and keep us frustrated. This can take a toll on our relationships with ourselves, and with our loved ones. Working on our own internal challenges can be difficult enough, but throwing another person into the mix when we don’t quite yet have ourselves figured out can make things even more overwhelming. Sometimes a little self help and research is all we need to get us on the right path, but sometimes we need extra help.

8 Things I Couldn’t Live Without Throughout My Pregnancy – So Far

The 8th month of pregnancy is almost here and this mama has had a pretty great ride thus far!

I’ve had no morning sickness, no cravings, no mood swings (my husband can attest) and overall I’ve felt pretty great! Don’t get me wrong, pregnancy can be taxing and difficult on the body at times but Ant and I both wanted this so much that I’ve really appreciated every moment of this baby. There have definitely been times when I have wished I could take the belly off for just a bit, but when I feel that way I just take a deep breath and remind myself to be thankful for the wonderful gift blooming inside of me and remind myself that any discomfort is temporary! And with that said, here is my list of things that have helped me get through the tough moments:

Smoothie Recipe #1

My husband and I have a green packed smoothie once a day (about half a liter each). This gives me a chance to throw in stuff I wouldn’t normally eat on its own, such as turmeric root, wheatgrass, spoonful of coconut oil, etc. I always throw in many superfoods and some powdered greens as well as fresh for that super daily boost. I’ll throw a recipe on here occasionally as I go!

What’s The Deal With Ghee

My husband and I do not consume any dairy products a majority of the time. However, I have been reading a lot about the health benefits of ghee, and it’s been one of those things that just keeps popping up everywhere I look, especially because I am usually attracted to Indian food recipes. So at first, when I kept seeing it on the ingredient list, I found myself wondering what this ‘ghee’ is.
